VW Golf 1.6 8V Conversion / Restoration

Post by Momo1 »

Good Day Members....
Hope you all doing great on this Wet Thursday!
I am currently restoring a MK1 GT fitted with the Original 1.6 8V Carb engine. I would like to keep the look of the car and engine bay as original as possible, but would like to Turbo the existing lump. What would I need to do this?...without having to swap the motor (as I said, I want the look of the car to be as original as possible.) The car would be restored for "Show and Shine" purposes, but a turbo would be a nice addition to the "Show" aspect of the car.
Any suggestions and/or recommendations?

Thanks.

@Neuk...so you recommend to keep the engine as is? Maybe just do some head work, balancing, lightening, and keep the carb on it? I also have a 288 cam for it that I'm considering putting into it..yes...no...maybe?

Please don't ruin a Mk1 GT, restore it as original as possible and leave as is.

Take a Citi and turn that into a poser car.
