Advice on best Oil to use for a 16v Methanol Setup

Post by Tashveer »

Hi Guys,

Apologies if this has been discussed previously, I did a quick search but couldn't find too much info.

In your opinion, what is the best grade oil to use for a N/A 16V Methanol setup?

A friend of mine has a proper built 2L 16v and is wanting some advice in this regard. There has been a few people that advised him to use Diesel Oil however he is a little skeptical about that.

Any advices on grades and brands will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Good full synth. Change it often.
Here is basically the issue. To run meth I am assuming you have built a massively high CR motor (like 15:1 plus otherwise why are you running meth)
the massive CR makes fuel get by the rings and this ends up in the oil which dilutes is's ability to lubricate AND methanol burns a clear flame.
If there is enough meth in the oil it might ignite and because it burns a clear flame you don't know until you get burnt.
