Timing belt crank pulley alignement

Post by vandyh »

Hi,

I need some advice here with the alignment of the timing belt pulley on the crankshaf.
This is a FSI crankshat and the nose was machined down to accommodate the pulley from the 8V motors.
The pulley sticks out by 2mm over the intermediate shaft pulley.

Can anyone confirm this?

Well that is subject to all kinds of parallax error but take a long straigh edge or ruler and hold it against the intermediate shaft pully and over the timing gear then you can confirm and even measure it yourself without asking for confirmation from a picture.

Panic, I did measure with a ruler. 2mm offset between the 2 pulleys.

If 2mm out just space all other pulleys in line or let them resize the crank to suit pulleys
