1989 MK2 Jetta CLI K-jet issue

Post by Pantera0325 »

Hello to everyone

I have a MK2 Jetta 1.8 cli, about 6 - 8 months back the car decided to stop going. we took it to mechanics in Montague gardens and after 3 weeks having the car we where told that k-jet system is faulty the dizzy has seized and i am gonna have to convert to a mp9 conversion. I wanted a second opinion and was referred to another company within Montague gardens who supposedly is a fuel injection specialist, he had the car there for just over a week got back to me saying that i should consider converting to carb as it will be cheaper to fix it that way as opposed to repairing the k-jet system.

i didnt want to convert it as i would like to keep the car as original as possible, so i told him to first try and see if he can give me a quote to fix and which point after 3 weeks i got a call to come collect my car its fixed at a cost of R3600, so i was annoyed as i never got my quote and a supposedly working car. i had the car a week and it bombed out so it went back only to find the fuel pump he put on was not the correct one as he took a short cut and put a 3 bar pump on, after he replaced it with the correct one the timing was out and it was pinging so he rectified that supposedly, the vehicle lasted another 3 weeks and did the same thing as it previously did while driving it dies almost like you have run out of fuel and it wont start again. the second time it went back he argued blindly that we ran out of fuel hence why the fuel dizzy seized again. now we get it back and all is well for another 3 weeks and my wife is on the N7 towards table view, and it does the same thing again, its there another 2 weeks and we told the second pump in the fuel tank is faulty he is gonna test and get back to us with a costing, needless to say he gets back to us another 1000 later and we stilling having crap.

now with the aftermarket pump if you leave the ignition on to long it floodes, it intermittently idles wrong (hunting on the revs) and it labours to start, all this with the idea that its gonna bomb again any minute.i have spent so much time and money on this problem that i have neglected the rest of the car. i would like to keep the car original and dont really want to move to carb. Is there anyone out there that knows these systems and isnt gonna talk bull to me to make a quick buck thats my first query.

and secondly and i trying to kick a dead horse alive, and should be replacing the whole system.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your hustles with the car, i have a lot of K-Jet stuff that i since kept when i did my conversation to MP9, they may be useful to keep as spare. You can have them for free mahala gratis.
I will post the pics of what i have.

Send me PM.
