MK 1 brakes assistance PLEASE HELP

HI Guy's

Could someone help help me i wanna know who did the brake booster delete and just used the master cylinder directly on to the pedal?
How hard is the pedal and any issues?

I am running a turbo setup but want to keep every thing nice and clean in the engine bay and still wanna stop when i have to.

Any suggestion?? :hi:

People use the Beetle master cylinder for this mod, I've personally never driven a Golf with one fitted but to my understanding it stops just as well, but there's a much thinner line in pressure on the peddle between stopping safely and wheels locking up.

It's pretty simple to do. I run the master cylinder directly on the pedal in the race car - as do most other people who race them. You can get a spacer for the pedal from Norbrake in Boksburg, R300 odd. Then just have to have new brake lines made up and fit them. Doesn't take too long once you get going.

The pedal requires a fair bit more pressure applied to have the same braking force, but it's really not such a massive inconvenience. I run a standard Mk1 master cylinder on my car.

I have this on my Escort. Pedal is very hard (when compared to normal vacuum assist), but you do get used to it after about 3 stops. Then you appreciate the vacuum assist when you drive a car with it again. Brake force is the same, pedal feel is just much harder than normal.

You actually have a much better feel for the brakes and it's much easier to modulate it without locking up. Almost the whole of VW challenge ran that way and you get used to it in no time. Using a slightly bigger master than stock helps somewhat.

You can upgrade the front discs to 256 or 280mm to help off-set the extra pedal effort.
Current rides:

HI Guy's

Thanks a lot that answers most of my questions, I do have the vr6 disc in frond with stock calipers (vlokspares up grade kit) and the mk2 rear disc setup at the back of the car.I will also place 2 suppressors in the line on for each side to reduce the pressure to the back form locking up. I just wanted some more knowledge of the hard nest of the pedal but let me try this and see what happens.

Panic, I was wondering about that if i use a bigger master wouldn't it be a better option than regular one.
I a going to measure the distance between the two bolts and see if i cant get a bigger one that will fit directly on it as well with out making some major adjustments.
