1.8 Cti overheating

Post by Barel005 »

Hi Guys

I need some help please my car started to overheat and burst the top radiator hose the other day. O replaced the hose with the small hose that's going to the water bottle as well. I also replaced the water bottle with the switch .

I replaced the radiator switch on the side as well and fan is still not coming on I checked the fuses as well.if I short the switch with a screw driver then the fan comes on

change your thermostat under the water pump. Remember you can't just take it out. You have to put another one back in. It closes off passaways when it opens.

Thanks Panic

Can it be the thermostat in the water pump
I checked the hoses and it's only the top hoses that's getting hot the bottom one is cold

this is an indicator that the thermostat in the waterpump housing, is not opening. replace it.

The downside of that is that the fans work themselves to death.

Fully agree with Panic on his statement. Check what the Peugeot switch specs are. You will see they run much cooler than VW engines.
