Golf 4 1.6 with 370k km?

Post by Jetta16v »

Hey guys.

Ive got a buddy that wants to buy a Golf 4 wagon like mine, but its got 370 000km on the clock. I know its a crap load of km, but what should he worry about? The car is clean and well looked after. Anything that he can check?

Cheers

Howzit Rion ,

If it was maintained then not much to worry about but if not then there's quite a list.

Motor - If it hasn't already been overhauled then expect for the motor to be opened at some point - Check smoke from exhaust(things like waterpump, oil pump, fuel pump can go at any moment should it not have been replaced before
Suspension - Bushes , Shocks , bearing's

Things like brake pads & discs & tires etc can be easily seen if worn

If the car was well serviced on time and preventative maintenance was done then 370k's is nothing.

Alrhough mine is tdi...its well maintained and still pulls hard...i found that the rear door micro switches give issues. If the clovebox handle hasnt broken yet it will...and the boot autolock could also act up....all easy diy fixes
