VIn no ?

Post by DewaldScholtz »

I have the following vin no on a 01 01 1967 registered Beetle - 115299542. What does all the digits mean? The engine which has a broken block is SFCR067654. The "R" I see means rebuilt. Where do I get a good engine? I suppose engine exchange would be the better way to go.

11 = Beetle Sedan
5 = 1965 (Year Built)
299542 = Serial number (number of models built on that assembly line)

My dad suffered from Beetlemania! And my FIL too. Just last week he donated his Rodeo S/W (that he himself built yonks ago, using his Jeans Bug as donor car) to his grandson. Although he still has a valid driver's licence at 84, he's now calling it quits.

Awesome! I hope the bug has been passed down to the younger generations.
