Velociti Oil Warning + Sump compression

Post by TemoMK1 »

Firstly, happy new year every one!

On my 2007 1.4i velociti's dash I got a oil warning today while driving. I checked the oil after the car cooled down and the oil level is fine.
I started the car again and let it warm up, I then checked oil again, oil level still is fine but I get oil up until half way of the dipstick. Every time I clean the dipstick and start the car the oil raises up to halfway.

I would assume that this could be sump compression?

Where do I start looking for issues and what could possibly be the cause.

I can do a compression test tonight, would that be a good starting point?

Thanks in advance.

Okay I did a compression test. The results are in PSI.

Cylinder 1 - 175
Cylinder 2 - 165
Cylinder 3 - 175
Cylinder 4 - 180

Does this seem okay?

Get a oil pressure gauge and see if there is oil pressure. Cylinder compression check will tell you nothing of oil pressure.
All dipsticks show a different level after running the car. That is why you wipe it before checking.
