Timing Marks Polo Playa 6N

Post by Brat Boy »

Hi Guys

Please can someone advise on the timing marks for a Polo Playa. I looked at the forum but none correspond with my car. for example the inspection hole on the gearbox I cannot see the flywheel (FFZ Box). The reason for me asking is that the car seems to be drinking a lot of petrol and it is also burning rich. Checked for errors on ECU and nothing is found. Will appreciate a step by step guide if you got one.

Would also like to add, when I accelerate and let go of the throttle there is a bit of a back fire. I have changed the leads as I the old one was damaged I have also changed the temp sensor as the old one was not reading properly anymore. I want to change the cambelt as well just in case. Please can you also advise why the backfire.

Car is a 1.6 Polo Playa

Kind Regards

if the crank pulley and cam pulley TDC marks line up then dont worry about the flywheel mark, could be the flywheel was installed incorrectly.
Set timing using the crank pulley marks, use VAG to lock the ecu into timing mode then use a timing light and set timing to +/-8 deg advance.
