8v block with neo vvl head

Post by logan2311 »

This has been on my mind but can't seem to find anything out there where guys has tried to fit like a neo vvl or Toyota rsi/rxi/beams or Honda vtech heads on vw block.
Has anyone tried fitting other manufacturers heads like neo vvl on an 8v block. Is it possible , If yes what will gains vs cost be.

Actually that’s not possible, it’s better to use the Audi 4.2 V8 head on two VVL bottoms ends!

It will basically be impossible. Nothing will line up. Nevermind the chain drive vs belt drive issue.
If you want a modern day vw alternative fit a bwa golf 5 head on there.

The easy way to see how possible it would be is to pop down to the spares and look at the head gaskets of the two motors, if all the the holes line up then the head swop could work, if not then you shirt out of luck.

It's why honda guys use honda heads and so on.

Nothing will line up. They use different cylinder spacing so not even head bolts will line up which means already it is a still born idea.

So my question is more "why?".

My race car uses essentially ABF.
Dad's race car uses a Neo-VVL (sr20ve).

Both motors use same (as in identical) ITBs, similar cams, same ECU, same tuner.

Guess which one makes more HP (and is more reliable)...
