mp9 throttle body cleaning

Post by JunaVivo »

Hi guys

I want to clean the TB with some carb cleaner. My question is if i remove the TB will I need to have it recalibrated with VAG? Or is this only required when fitting a new TB.

Thanking you.

Thanks Panic.

Nothing wrong at the moment, but did see some grime in it, and thought it would be good to give it a clean.

Then simply wipe it off with a rag or leave it. The moment you start 'fixing' those things with solvents you have a good change of screwing it up.

I guess school fees are going to be paid. So I wiped the tb with a cloth only while in place (didnt remove the bolts). Now the idle speed is around 1500 and gradually reduces to around 1200 intermittenly. Did some reading and it appears to be a common issue, and in most instances either a tb calibration is required or a new tb.

Then I decided to unplug the tps and the idle sits at 950-1000 and revs up fine. When plugged back in the idle goes back to 1500- 1200.

Any suggestions. Im in the westrand, any idea where I can go to get the calibration done.

Your assistance is much appreciated.
Thanks

let me be the first to tell you I told you so. If they don't mess around leave it alone.
