Valve guides 8v head

Post by DeanK »

Good afternoon

Can anyone recommend someone to do valve guides on my 8v head.

Started this morning with a noise - opened up motor and pieces of valve guide on no1 piston.

Valves still seating , have no idea what happened .

Busy building the KR so dont want to spend a fortune.

Thanks

Oh no!!!

DIY it. Get a set of guides and valve stem seals, buy a reaming tool the right size for the valve stem. Strip the head and pull the old guides out, insert new guides and ream, fit new valve stem seals after you have lapped in the valves. Assemble head and put back on motor. Put rest of stuff on head. Set and check timing marks. Turn motor over by hand to ensure all is well and set correctly. Start and enjoy again.

Do I make it sound easy or not?

Spending money on a 8v that is a temp motor is so wrong .....

Yes , this will be my last fiddle with 8v - cam , degree pulley etc etc will go on / in .

At least I can sell a perfect motor when we swap the units.
