Stalling due to new carb

Morning Guys

I am restoring a 1984 Golf mk1 1300. I replaced the carb with a gold wagen carb, the car drives nice but the car keeps stalling when i stop at robot. And also i only get about 10km per litre, is this normal

Yip 10k's a litre is standard fare for a 1.3 carb - i have owned quite a few.... my 1800 sport gives 11-12 and chico 1.3 exactly that (low mile well set up car!)

Those chinese carbs are pesky...where are you based?

Didnyou connect the fuel cutoff solenoid to power and made sure the earth wire from the carb is connected to the head.

the cut off is connected to power and the earth is also connected, however i took off my dizzy cap and it looks like 1 and 4 is burning on the contact points and also looks like something is cutting the cap on inside. what is causing this.

What rpm does it idle at. Have you tried to raise it a little. Is the idle mixture set correct. So hard to just guess with the absolute no detail you have given.
