2L 8v short vs long intake

Post by raveen21 »

Hello to all.
Just need someone to clear this up for me.
I was told that that the long intake make more torque than the short intake.
Is this true?

You don't really specify which intakes we are talking about there.
Factory 2E or factory simos or mp9 or some home made job or what short vs long manifold exactly.

@panic , I'm not sure if this is the same question, it's a conversation I always come across, longer intake plenum from the 2e makes more torque then the shorter intake plenum setup (both are vw made ) , the shorter Intake plenum is told to make more HP.

There are 3 different manifolds. be specific. And then there are several versions of mp9 on top of that.
So no simple short vs. long. And it will differ for different builds on top of that. People that give you a generic answer actually is talking about 5th hand info or regurgitating some stuff they heard.
Unless you can tell me which manifold you refer to specifically there is no simple cut and dried this one is better than that one answer. And then for your specific build you will have to try them to know for sure.

Short intake of the ADY/AGG vs 2E Long intake/MP9 Long intake - I will choose the long intake all day everyday, either of them.

The one with the VW stamp up front is the best to use...My long intake out a Velo has a bit of work on it, I doubt there will be any more power for me to pull out even with that intake.
