car just swinging

Hi I have a 98 polo playa 1.4....the car was driving fine a few days ago..I started the car again and it was idling for a fee minutes then suddenly just switched off with a zzzzzzzzzzzttt sound....I then tried to start it again but its just swinging....I checked for spark on the plugs and even bought a new coil .....Help please!!!!

So I checked if there is fuel supply ..Check the coil...biggies.....and then checked the cambelt...it skipped a few teeth which was caused by the cam shaft that run then just stop!!!!!!!!!so I have a second hand cam shaft which will be fit tomorrow ....So my question is can it be fit as is???

Uhm - you have to figure out why the cam seized. They don't just stop?. Is there visible damage in the camshaft journals?
You are maybe feeling the cam stop becuase there is a valve hitting a piston. Honeslty you have to do some fault finding at this stage. So is the cam stopping becuase of out timing due to a belt fail or did the belt fail becuase the cam stopped.

So there was no pick up in the samp ......I bought the car so there was a nut welded by wheel of the cam "not sure what u call that" and that made a whop in the cam ...I am busy checking out the oil pump and taking it to a engineer to see if the pump is broken coz there is no oil coming through by the hole where the cam is.
