Replacement Carb
Hi there guys. I replaced my old carb with the replacement carb from gold wagen. my question is where do i connect all the vacuum hoses. wher do the vacuum hose from the one way valve from the brake booster go, i am so confused. it is a 1985 golf mk1 1.3

you did not think to just take a picture beforehand ?. how about one now with all the pipes you don't know.
distributor one goes to the back of carb and that is almost the most important one.

I bought the car with the carb in the boot. So i couldt not take a photo. I googled the hoses and carb but there are so many photos and diagrams wich is not the same. that is why i want to find out were does the hose from the oneway valve from the brake booster go. ( where on the carb ) and also top left is the choke vacume, i think. where do the vacume come from on that. there is a vacume ball (green one) what supplys the ball with vacume. Please i need help.

Ok so the ball is basically supplied by the the one on the brake one way valve.
The choke vacuum should also go to the back of the carb. But these things are very hard to explain without pictures or even know which carb you have. If it is a new carb the choke vacuum should have already been plumbed.
The original carb for that engine would probably have been a pierburg which also changes th vacuum layout.

what happens if you do not attach the vacuum pipe at the back, the one from the distributor one, when I unplug mine I don't see any changes

On partial throttle the car might be surging slightly and if you measure emissions you find that you have lots of unburnt hydro carbons coming out of the exhaust.

Ok then there is a single line for vacuum at the back of the carb. You will take that and tee it to all the places that needs it.
The choke is manual and the second stage is directly plumbed into the carb.

so i have sorted the vacuum hoses, thanks to 7zap website. now my question is when the vehicle stand awile it starts very difficult, it sounds like there is no fuel in the carb, but when i drive there is no issues at all.

It is a phenomenon called carburettor percolation. Google it.

Spark should be blue. Damn I did not know those things are still around. Used it to tune my rally 510 Datsun SSS Hitachi / SU carbs & later side draught Delorto carbs, with one aided by a vacuum meter (basically a little iron marble in a tube that rise with suction from the carbs to ensure suction level on both carbs are the same. Great memories.

damn I even forgot the things name as well. HI There
I drive a vw 92 jetta 2 CLX.
Recently i moved from Johannesburg South Africa. To Cape Town South Africa.
Since moving here the car started to ping alot. And it tended to stutter.
Replaced the Distributor. Replaced the Spark plug wires. Replaced the Carburattor. But All to no Avail.
When the timing is on 10 before TDC the car tends to ping But it has all the power. But it pings from 1000 rpm to 3200 rpm.
If i put it on 6. It doesnt ping But then the car is asif it stutters And not really stutter. If you know the car and these models. the best way to describe it is
Its asif you feel the vacuum pulling but it doesnt open the second butterfly.
Weve been playing around with the air to fuel mixture. And the best is just before the second butterfly opens it stutters a small bit. And then releases. But its as if its not the same type of power we know this car can produce - and you might be thinking yeh right 1800 carb engine. Your lucky if that engine makes 70 KW.
Now im thinking the only thing that remains is that since vw made the rhythm city golf they;ve changed the carburettor. Could it be that this carburetor just doesnt work for this engine? Because you dont get the standard Keihin carb anymore. It has 3 vacuum ports at the back. and i know 2 of them blows air. And the third vacuum port sucks vacuum to advance the distrubutor.
So im stuck at. Either have a car that PINGS like crazy. Or be stuck with the stuttering.
Does anyone have advice?
