So this happened...(decided I was going to do things properly)
Image
Image

Took out the rear carpet, it's in quite a good condition just needs a clean. Any advice regarding that would be much appreciated
Image

Found these original sound dampening pads underneath the carpetImage
Image

A bit of the engine bay... with some much needed love and attention.
Image

My return in the investment lol
Image

So got this far and decided to call it a night...
Busy removing the dash, any advise on how to do this properly and also for some things to watch out for...

Look in the raintray behind the wiper arms. There are two 6mm bolts with 10mm nuts on. If you don’t remove those two nuts you will not get the dash out.

So managed to remove the dash and the front carpet

Found this in the dash some time back...

Found a lot of bad wiring methods!!
It really rubs me up the wrong way, stripping the ends of two wires joining them together by twisting them together then covering with insulation tape is not a connection!!

It would be wise to lay some rubberizer/ bakkie and van coating on the floor while you still have the carpet out, this should keep rust away for a few more years if you are planning to keep the car that long.
I did the same on mine.

Best way to clean carpets is with a pressure cleaner on paving...don't worry you wont damage them

This is definitely on the table, saw some spray can one the other day. Will try to get the name and check if those are fine.
