Endless heating issues

Post by Mk1Crazee »

I recently dropped a 1.4i Velociti motor into my chico. currently running carb.

The car heats up really quick and affects performance. When i'm driving for about 30mins or more i get this strong warm water smell as if the car is overheating and the car starts to run really lazy.

I checked the thermostat which seems to be present and in good condition. Flushed my radiator and running water-coolant. used to run a manual fan switch (bought the car like that) but since got an auto to rewire it correctly.

I found that the small pipe on top of the radiator that connects to the water bottle gets really hot after idling for 10mins (not sure if it is normal)

sorry for the essay, hope ya'll can help :bang:

Yes, but has the car overheated? I.e does the gauge read above half? Or the water bottle boil over?

The water bottle does not boil over. The car does not overheat and the gauge goes well over halfway. As mentioned it also affects the performance (i.e the car becomes very lazy)

could be a water temp sender. The water smell can be from a leak - even possibly the water heater matrix.
