Shortened Shocks

Post by Denver1 »

Hi guys,

I made a big mistake by cutting the springs on my golf 1
The ride is terrible. :(

I want to buy lowered springs and shortened shocks.
Is that a good option? if so where can I buy shortened shocks in Durban?

thanks

Yes, shortened shocks works well with drop springs. You can even look at some budget coilovers as the price difference between shortened shocks with drop springs and coilovers will be minimal

thanks

I phoned stable ride earlier and they was against the option of coilovers and said something about no dog nut on coilovers which is a risk. they said the good coilovers are expensive and the cheaper coilovers gives a bad ride.

Golf1 coil overs are quite cheap, well im sure the price depends on the quality..

Iirc maxtrac coilovers for golf1 are selling at about R4500.. theres a guy by the name of Nishen from Chatsworth who is a dealer. U should find his details on gumtree. He seems to have a wide range of coilovers available

Yah I checked him out on gumtree too. he's got those JOM blue line coilover kit. Is it good stuff?

One more thing I wanted to know. where can I buy diagnostic software and cable for my 2002 golf 1?
I checked on google and came across vagcom however there's so many different types of cable and software versions. I'm not sure which one will work. Please advise

thank you

Jom bluelines are 100% fine, had them on my old citi. I dont think a cable is really needed for a citi, I mean you wont ever use it really
