Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
I did it on my ABF,works well.
You will need a few bits to make it work included in that an ECU with rpm limiter increased.

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
They say on the kr i will need to modify the intake to make the TB and the MAP sensor fit as the kr engine used k-jet system and not EFI..if i use ABF intake with TB and all the other bits on the kr engine it should work?

No it can't mapped to 16 valves, but you can load the 1.8R map and install a UniQ to sort out the fine tuningjacquesdejager21 wrote:Also, can the mp9 ecu be mapped to 16v?

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
mp9 Ecu can be tuned for 16v but there is only one person that I know of who can do it, Pluto pm him on the forum but not sure if he does it anymore.
If you use the KR intake you will need to make up an adapter plate so that you can bolt on a mp9 throttle body to the KR intake.
If you use the ABF intake you will require a OBDII throttle body as the ABF TB is 3 pin will not work on mp9, on both the KR and ABF intake you will have to drill and tap to make the Map sensor fit, you will also need the 4pin water temp sensor and knock sensor to make mp9 work.
Much easier to go with aftermarket management but find a decent tuner who gives you the time of day and can tune your car to OEM smoothness as possible.
With aftermarket management you will not need the 4pin water temp sensor, Knock sensor, mp9 map senso and OBDII TB

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
It's not about the engine. It is about the management. You have the exact same issue with mp9 on Abf.
Just do aftermarket. Mp9 is not simply or cheaply tuneable. And there is no ready to install map available.

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
But the beter option will be abf with aftermarket as it will not require any modification to fit TB and all the other stuff

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
you still can run aftermarket management on your current KR motor, you just need to get a fuel rail and injectors, then wire up the management, get it tuned and sorted.
Lots of people under estimate the KR motor, I have a lot of respect for that motor.

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
The only reason i wanted to go with the kr engine is that they are waaaaaay cheaper than abf and give about the same power output

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
I'm guessing the same will apply for the 2.0l 16v AAL motor? So with standalone management you would need injectors and rail?

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
yes, considering the price difference it does not make sense anymore, also with the money saved you can do other modsjacquesdejager21 wrote:The only reason i wanted to go with the kr engine is that they are waaaaaay cheaper than abf and give about the same power output

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
I am not sure in which universe a 1.8 kr and an abf makes the same power but on my dyno the abf makes basically 20hp more. If in your opinion that is close enough then sure go for the kr. Yes they are a lot cheaper and lovely little engins that are just great but there is a pretty decent power difference.

Re: Mp9 fuel system on a 16v kr engine?
What im trying to say is that from the specs i got on the web it doesnt look like a big difference in power..think they said 103kw for kr and 110kw for abf..im not going to argue with you guys that have all the experince and been in the game for years

The guys covered it. Injectors, rail, pretty much it to go to aftermarket.
