*Sigh*
So.. Heres's my scenario/little bit of info leading up to this point.
So my clutch was replaced last month, the following were replaced.
1) Clutch Plate
2) Pressure Plate
3) Release Bearing
4) Tiki seal
5) Brass Bush
6) Spigot seal.
So on friday afternoon coming back from work my clutch cable snapped! (Nothing new there), woke up next day and got a new clutch cable from Goldwagen and all was well , the clutch was very light compared to the old cable.
So early this morning i'm driving and I'm approaching a red robot so I'm changing down through all the gears then boom no clutch at all anymore,
So i pull over and pull the Release arm up and it gets solid at around 9:00/horizopntal, so as far as i know this means that everything internally SHOULD be fine??,
Drove back home and just replaced the pushrod and thrust bearing (had spares laying around) in hopes of this being a quick fix, still no clutch.
I've heard of instances where the rod pierces the plate (I pressume this is the pressure plate?),
My Question is: Would this be the case in my scenario even though the release arm is getting solid at 9:00?
Or perhaps I should be checking something else?
When the car is off the gears go in fine, I can start the car in gear and drive off in that gear (thats how I got home), Just when I depress the clutch the revs dont even drop and this is exactly what it did leading up to me getting the clutch replaced.
*Also, the clutch pedal hasn't dropped to the floor or anything it still feels the same
Please advise if you can.

Re: Golf 1 New Clutch...
Check the release bearing in the rear casing and also the finger that fits on the clutch shaft to the out of gearbox to where the clutch cable hooks on.
Piercing the plate where the pushrod presses can also cause no clutch, but to the extend that it will feel like you are trying to change gears without depressing the clutch pedal.
Check the firewall side of cable where it goes through the firewall.

It basically feels like that . I have replaced that bearing as I thought it was the culprit, replaced the pushrod too but nada.PapaJo wrote:Check the release bearing in the rear casing and also the finger that fits on the clutch shaft to the out of gearbox to where the clutch cable hooks on.

Hmm didn't really look at it while I was replacing the bearing earlier on today,it looked fine though.panic-mechanic wrote:broken finger can have all the stuff you describe.
Will double check it again.
Lets say the finger is actually fine, this could mean it's something internal? Even though the arm is getting solid at the horizontal point? *this is the part that confuses me*

Re: Golf 1 New Clutch...
The only thing intetnal that causes that is finger, plate or bearing.

Guess it boils down to two things, plate or finger.panic-mechanic wrote:The only thing internal that causes that is finger, plate or bearing.
