oil light flashes at idle mk2 gti 8v

Hi all,

Its me again :bang:

I've noticed that my oil light on the dash starts to flash when my oil temp reaches 90 deg and above.

At idle, I rev it above 2000rpm then the oil light stops flashing.

The cars lifters also sounds really loud :cry:

Ive changed to 20W50 about a month ago because of the oil light coming on and it helped but only for 2 weeks.

I also have a new blue low pressure sensor which I installed about a month ago.

Could this be my oil pump busy going ?

Should I be alarmed ?

Yes. Be alarmed. Get a physical oil pressure gauge on it and see what/if it is falling too low.
Should be around 0.85 bar at idle with oil hot as a minimum.

I wouldn't drive it until you got a proper reading on that Oil Pressure.

My caddy had a similar problem, turned out the guys that did the machining of the Crank incorrectly cut and sized the bearings, causing low pressure when it reached operating temps.

I will use my bike in the meantime( until I source a pressure gauge)
