2Litre 8V Carb_Oil Buzzer Issue

Hi guys, so after finally getting a working sqaure dash cluster with a rev counter I now have the issue with the oil buzzer going of after 2000 rpms. This only occurs whilst driving and I have checked that there is enough oil. I have searched around and found that this is sort of a common issue on the 2liters the solutions I read were to change the oil sensors by the filter and head, just wanted to know if anyone experienced this sort of issue recently?

change the two oil pressure sensors as instructed.

Thanks my oil switch by the head has 2 wires, which I think one wire is for a pressure gauge which I dont have, can I change that to a single pin sensor?

Anyone with some info on the wiring for the Low pressure oil switch? Like which wire i can leave disconnected should i convert to the single (Blue) pin switch?

what colour is the two wires?

Low pressure sensor (wire color black/blue)(sensor color BLUE)(located on head)(pressure 0.25 bar)

Below is picture of it currently, the guys that did the van wiring chose one colour wire for all their wires :crazy: :twisted: so not sure which is which but there is a green and black wire there though? The thing is that even if i ground the High pressure it still buzzes.

do you have a oil pressure gauge fitted in the vehicle because that sensor is for a oil pressure gauge and not for the cluster oil pressure light and buzzer setup.
Also is there a oil pressure sensor sitting on top of the oil filter housing, you need to connect that in order for the buzzer not to sound.
Nice spark plug stopper btw.

You have an oil pressure sensor in your head. Not a switch.

First get both a blue and white switch new.
Second get a new sparky who knows their story.
Third install blue switch on the head and white on the filter housing
Fourth get sparky to attach the correct wires

Keep the pressure sensor and get a pressure gauge at some point reinstall the sensor and wire it to the gauge. The pressure sensor is normally fitted to the oil filter housing next to the white switch. A 2E/ADY should have a blank off plug that will take the sensor on the oil filter housing.

@ UDC - I do have Oil Sensor by the Oil Filter and nope there isn't any oil gauge, thats why I want to change it to the normal sensor for now. Lol about the spark plug, previuos owners mess which Im still trying to sort out.

OML. I have the exact same issue as you bud Hehe. I had a pressure leak coming from the tappet cover gasket. Changed it today. So gna see if it still buzzes when I drive it tmrw. What a coincidence hehe

Do you have an oil pressure gauge inside your car?

The sensor you posted a pic of looks like the original VW ones made by VDO.

If you don't have the gauge, then one of those wires (either the blue or the green/black) will need to be disconnected.
That sensor has 2 connections - one for the oil light, and one for the gauge.
Look on the steel housing just above the black piece where the 2 threads are for the wires - one will be labelled WK and one will be labelled G.
MAKE SURE the wire going to the oil light is connected to the pin marked WK.
The wire going to the pressure gauge (if you have one) gets connected to the pin marked G.
Both the pins of the top sensor are already using/switching negative (earth), so nothing is going to happen there, even if you earth one of the wires.

The whole oil pressure warning circuit is complicated, but not rocket science - early MK1 Gti's as well as the CTi golfies had these in, and lately everyone is retro-fitting them into citigolfs all over.
For the light to go off and the buzzer to keep quiet, BOTH oil pressure sensors must be working.
By both I mean the top one, as well as the one fitted ontop of the oil filter housing.
Each of these sensors work at different pressures.

If you have a hard time getting it to work, let me know and I can email you how the whole system works as well as tests you can do on it to see where the problem is, and the complete wiring diagram of only the acoustic oil warning system (VW's fancy name for it).

@DC Shoes - Thanks buds.. the problem was actually that the guys wired the sensors wrong. Manged to get the correct wiring sorted.. thanks for the help bud.

I have a vw Caddy 2l 8v
Now the caddy has another dashboard in, Velociti dashboard. Now the rev counter isn't connected. How do i connect it?

Did you use the wiring harness for the dash or do you still have your original one?
