The Gti guy, with the next event please come over and let me give you a ride In the golf. At the end of the day it all come down to how you prefer your power delivery.
For every day use I prefer the 2.0 but for racing and track events my 1870cc comes into it's own.

Well with a blowing exhaust you will lose power, so perhaps 90kw is plausible.

Hi Guys

Thanx for all your help I appreciate it.

I have a question will a modified camshaft (276 or 282) bugger up my motor in any way?

Next step for me is to buy the cam + vernier then exhaust, then take off the head and send it away then put it all back together and get it tuned at RBT again. I will do all the parts in one go so it may take me a bit longer but it will save me money on Dyno'ing the car all the time.

Guys

I want to port and flow my head, the 1 guy suggested that I skim my head 0,5mm u guys think that will be a good idea? I know this is purely to bump up the compression but can it cause any damage?

Please advise.

Be very careful upping the cr. If your calculations are out, you end up with pinging and a useless cylinder head.

Good Day, Guys

So today we had a chat in the office and this admin girl keeps on bragging about her friend that's getting a Run X Rsi, a very nice car but according to her is so and so fast. Then I burst her bubble and I'm like once I do my head, put in the cam and exhaust and Dyno the car take me to ur friend I know 1/4 mile I'll eat him but after 4th gear he will run away from me.

Two friends of mine had Vw Golf 2 16 valves (9A K-Jet) and they used to eat the X's quarter mile and top end, when I told her a Abf would it up anywhere anyday the look on her face was priceless. I think I spoiled her weekend. Vw all the way!!!!

I noticed that when I got my head back from a port and polish, valve stems, reseat etc etc, that they had skimmed the head. It's a mexico head from an import ADY, now I'm worried about the problem that you're talking about now. I never asked them to skim the head, and now that they have, I'm a little pissed that they've possibly costed my project.

I'm gonna be installing in about 2 months, how do I detect if it's pinging? I don't want to end up with pitted pistons etc etc, I'd rather bin the head and try source a crossflow. Is it possible to use a double gasket or CNCd metal gasket to reverse the CR effect of the skimming? I'm at the coast so I don't have the option of upping the octane.

If it is pinging you can reduce timing and increase fuel. But that will also take performance away.

When a head is reconditioned, the deck surface is generally, for lack of a better word, "resurfaced". I'm not sure that they will remove a micron.

Even if a micron is removed, is it gonna affect you compression ratio?

Best you contact the engineer and ask them what they did..

Hey Guys

Update!!!!

Bought me a double dowel SACHS clutch kit today, what's the difference between double dowel and single dowel? Also bought new inner cv's, bush kit to set the linkages. Car will go in Monday for this, my inners have started screaming really loud lately. I bought the clutch kit for R1045 at Goldwagen Claremont and the salesman was really interested in my car since I told him what I did to it. He drives a mk1 1.6 8valve with a 276 *** cam since Goldwagen is selling *** cams his now trying to persuaded me to get a ***. Now there is no ways I'm doing that I'm sticking to my original idea of estas 282 already contacted Nellis about this hopefully I'll have it next month. Apparently his car goes nice with the *** but I'll not leave anything to chance I'll make a wise investment in the estas.

Jip stay with estas. What diameter flywheel do you use?

In general we found the LUK 210mm single dowl can handle the most torture. That's why we use them for a base kit on the button clutch kits.

Hi, Viper

210mm 9 hole flywheel like orginally came with the car and still the very same AUG gearbox. What's the difference between single and double dowel apart from single dowel being more expensive lol. Which is better Luk or SACHS? Every1 on the forum raves about sachs so I can't wait to see lol should I drive carefully 1st when its installed?

There is nothing wrong with Sachs . Now Sachs will give you a softer pedal feel. LUK pressure plates cam hold better in my opinion an the single dowl pressure plate ate stronger rated than the double type.

At the end it comes down to preferences. But if you look under my ethanol cars hood, you will only see LUK. I think on Std cars Sachs Is more than capable.
