Catrol 5w30 fully synthetic, the gold bottle, you can buy 5L from Makro. VW uses it in everything from a polo vivo to a golf GTI.

Sorry the gold bottle is 5w40, but it is what you need.

Thanks guys for the feedback...Its a 2.0l petrol...
Contacted VW today, spoke to one of their workshop technicians...They told me to use 10w40 synthetic oil...
I think they use different grade oil depending on the mileage of the vechile...
Long story short..i purchased a 5lt Castrol Magnatec 10w40 oil from makro today.
Engine sounds much more quiet....then before...

:hijack: Is it a good idea to use 10w40 synthetic on my 1800 8v carb? iv heard that with a good synthetic oil and pro long/dura lube, my engine will run smoother n quieter? or is it better to use 20w50 multi grade? Sorry to jack your thread Golfwagon

Stick to 20w50, anything thinner like 15w40 will see you topping up oil frequently like I do...
