speedo fault and now airbag fault?

Post by gustav »

Jetta 1600 2002

The plug and wires on the side of the speedo assembly is good and everything else is working. it appears to be a bad connection for the speedo to work intermittently, can sometimes work for days. Any advice?

It is like it is loosing a earth somewhere, on the instrument panel?

Can someone send me info. on the speedo - like where can I find the sensor that picks up the pulses, so that I can check from the source.

The latest is it does not work anymore

The speed sensor sat on the gear box. 3 wires a earth positive and out put. Check the brown and black for 12v with ignition on.if there is and there is continuaty on the white and blue wire they fine.get a other sensor to test as they ususlly at fault.

That wire also sends a signal to the radio for the gala function.the signal also is sent to the engine ecu.

Yes I agree with that, because I cannot find anything on the gearbox or transmission. any idea if it comes from the left front wheel?

Re: Airbag fault?

Ok I got my speedo to work after I repaired the pins that corroded off in the sensor, but now I am getting a meassage "airbag fault" something I never had before. The battery volts is good and this fault came from nowhere. What can I look for?
