There is a plug with wires (3 or 4) that runs on the gearbox. Check if this is connected and that none of the wires are broken. Its sits near to the dust cap by the clutch on top of the box. The one wire related to your speedo.

Oil buzzer is normally the oil pressure sensor by the head (right side of the head) or on the oil filter (wire that runs on top of the oil filter). Check the wire that runs into these two plugs as well.

Oh crap. Bud, please check your two main fuses by the battery, take them out and give 'em a good clean. :hi:

No, it's one of those fuses, I'm pretty sure about it. If the one stuffs around, the engine just dies or refuses to start. When the other one stuffs around, it does the above.

Oil buzzer also comes on if there is oil pressure but no rpm on the clock. Yeah try disconnecting the battery and see if the cluster will reset.

3 batteries for what?

I have heard of the same problem this weekend on a 6n polo. The lady in my complex asked me if I could help. So the speedo does not work but the odometer is still turning, could that be a problem with the speedo on the cluster itself? I assumed the speedo pickup would be broken but if the km's are still climbing then i assumed the cluster is the issue.

anyway off topic but Fok, I have had and seen "Sound" in my day but never needed more than one battery a huge alternator and a good capacitor but this car probably pushes over 150db then as I used to push over 140db time and again without issues...

Not quite the same issue. In the lady's case it's dry solder joints on the cluster. I take it the rev counter doesn't work either, but the fuel and temperature gauges, indicator and warning lights still work.

And when you switch your indicators on it's dead on the cluster, yet if you physically check them outside, they work, right?

Mine did the same. Was one of the fuses next to the battery. I didn't even have to take mine out, I just wiggled them abit, and checked the cluster. Bob she is your tannie.
