Advise needed - Carb or Injection?

Post by Aveezy »

:hi: Sup Guys

I have been having some serious problems with my carb :bang: …I don’t know how a golf carb works as to different cc or do 1 type work with all engines anyway I was really thinking about the whole injection route but that seems a bit pricey and takes time and i dont know any1 that does this setup, anyway over-fuelling and power loss is the problems I’m having now …R100 – 87km driving slow ,I’m not sure if that’s normal it just seems a bit heavy so I just wanted to know would it be better to get an original carb (not sure if there is still around) then send it in for refurbish or to get these brand new carbs at the spare shop for R800 or go injection at the moment I’m clueless so any advice would really help… my 1600 is quite slow but real heavy on fuel which doesn’t make sense. I just need something with better fuel consumption and a bit more response

Thanks

Ok what carb is on at the moment?
The oe carbs mostly just used diff jetting.
If the cab jets are wrong or emultion tube swopped etc they can become heaby on fuel.
I have fitted some of the gw carbs with no issues.

well im not sure what carb is on now but the choke doesnt even work and it gives a heavy smell of fuel when ever I go over 3500rpms ...so a normal R800 carb should work fine then? i dont have to adjust anything? just bolt on and drive?

I guess, I'm happy with 10km/l from my golf, but ya I guess u could try changing driving style. Also if u want the 18km/l type of consumption u shud by an atos, or they call them i10 these days. They light on fuel.

yup 10 km/l is sort of pretty standard for a carb 1600golf.
