Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
Take it to somebody that still knows how a carb works. Ie. somebody with grey hair. Most modern 'mechanics' don't know how to fix a carb.

Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
There's a mixture adjustment screw at the back left of the carb. It is recessed. If that is not set correctly your fuel consumption will go for a dive. Also make sure that when you close the choke in the cab, that it actually closes at the carb as well.
We used to adjust it as follows:
1) From being turned out turn the screw back in till the car idles at it's fastest
2) Then back it out again by 1 1/2 turn
Some other things that you can look at:
1) Adapter gasket between the carb and manifold
2) Perished fuel lines
3) Sticky float

Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
mixture adjustment screw in the bad only works during Idle. Will do nothing to your consumption.

Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
Sort of ja. I get about 490k's on a tank now. Was just taken apart again and given a good clean. I think he said he changed the ports too? But ja. Better but not completely right yet

Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
Hi there Im driving a 1.6 Carb model Chico. Maybe someone could advise me on my problem. The car detonate when the choke is open but if I close the choke a slight bit the car runs normal. My jetting is as follows
Venturi - Stage 1/2 = 20/26
Main jet - Stage 1/2 = 110/150
Air correction jet - Stage 1/2 = 100/120
Idling fuel jet = 48
Idling air jet = 120
Float needle valve = 2.5
Pump injection jet = 0.45
Enrichment valve = 45
Ive changed the coil, plug wires and distruber. Help please

Re: 1.3l citi carb problems
giving jet sizes helps nothing. Those are pretty much the factory jets. Get it on a dyno - set timing to where it makes the best power with no detonation and see what the fuelling looks like under load. Change jet sizes till it gives you 13.2 under full power.
If it still detonates you have some other issue like overheating or a blown head gasket.
