Caddy Bakkie 1.8 4 speed

Post by ScottiesKJ »

Hi guys

So a mate of mine is looking at selling his caddy bakkie which is in fairly good nic and i'm thinking of buying this. Now he says that its a 1.8 4 speed 1995 model? Could this be? I know there was a 1.8 4 speed model but were they still done up to 1995?

Gee the last time they were available as a 4speed was in like the early 80's. somebody has fked him over nicely. Take the vin number to vw and ask them to check what year that was made.

there are some differences on the linkage setup between 5 speed and 4 speed, why dont you guys look under the hood and see what box is in there? or even the box code could help.

He may have just had a shot 5th gear, sourced a 4 speed gearknob and fitted it and made him think otherwise.

This was my thoughts but wouldn't it have skinny bumpers? OK i know it could be changed to new spec. but wouldn't that model have come with
skinny front bumper?

The plastic bumper came out in 1981 already. You decide. Honestly, it's pretty easy. Post the vin number that is on it's registration paper or take it to vw and let them tell you the year it was made. No need to guess.
