Backfiring in the intake

Post by Ninja »

Good day good people,

When I try start my car, the engine swings but does not start. When I put the accelerator down and let go the ignition, it seems to backfire in the intake, smoke comes out the air filter. After a while of this happening, the car then starts.

It seems as if the plugs are not igniting or the fuel is not getting to the plugs....

Is there anyone on the forum who could help me rectify this problem... please?

More details please? OEM management or aftermarket?
Was the car running fine before this happened? Any work done on the motor recently?

Generally, backfiring like you describe will be because of ignition timing that is retarded too far on startup or the fueling is too lean for startup.

I have a dicktator installed, but have not changed any settings before the problem occurred... I've uploaded the back-up map just to make sure, but same problem!

no work has been done, although the battery died a couple of times where i had to jump start it...

Check the cam timing first of all.
