16V Questions
Hi im busy building a 16v motor ,things i have done so far are ,KR block ,conrods polished ,Nissan CA18 pistons and 2L crank. Now i wanted to know will the pistons not hit the head? Pistons has been worked to clear valves ,but im worried about the dome on the piston hitting the face of the head. also what size cams do i go for was thinking 300? head will be made solid lifter with Toyota ITB's. What Radiator set up? to give a nice clean flow of air. Also i welcome any advice.

Re: 16V Questions
When you build an engine like that then you have to do what is called dummy assembly where you check if that kind of thing does not happen.

Re: 16V Questions
All in first gear? or do you mind to shift a couple of times in between?
longest cams for a 16v that you don't want to rev to 10000 rpm is 276's and on an 1800 that will already be too long. Rather go like 276 exhaust and 268 intake. They are nothing like 8v's when it comes to cam choice.

Re: 16V Questions
Lol i suppose i would be OK with shifting once or twice.A guy in Cape Town is running 298's and he does a quarter mile in 12.4sec. Do i not need high lift cams for the ITB's? But like you said i don't want to make power at 10 000RPM

Re: 16V Questions
I spoke to Nellis today and he advised that i use a 288 cam for my application. I want mid range to top end power. Will a 84.5mm bore not compensate for the low down torque?. Shuaib i think 43mm throttles is a tiny bit to small as well as the 276 cam. i understand that throttles need lift to operate correctly. Also what fuel pump do i use?

43mm is still a bit big and i would say 2x288 is also too big...Jihaad wrote:I spoke to Nellis today and he advised that i use a 288 cam for my application. I want mid range to top end power. Re: 16V Questions
288 x 11.7mm is fine for "street & strip" on ITBs (or S/D) @ sea level.

Re: 16V Questions
The guys I know use 48-50mm ITB's and 300+ cams here in Jhb on their 16V's and are current record holders. These are drag cars yes. 288's and 45mm ITB's work quite lekker on street cars. If you keep the std long runner 16V intake mani then 276's work well.PoLonY wrote:43mm is still a bit big and i would say 2x288 is also too big...Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2Jihaad wrote:I spoke to Nellis today and he advised that i use a 288 cam for my application.
