The vr6 lips you get locally (Reps) do not fit the Jetta bumper correctly.

Then either your car is not a VR6 or you got the wrong part buddy.

+1. You have to mod the lip anyway to make it fit into the slot of the Jetta bumper. The VR6 rep lip is made to fit the Golf bumper.

It even lined up correctly ad the ends of the bumper?

As the mk3 gold bumper is shorter on the sides compared to the jetta bumper.

Pull the sides with some force to get the lips teeth in the right gaps.

It worked with me.

My OEM VR6 lip fitted like a glove. No gaps in the middle...etc.
After losing it on the highway I have been through 3 of these rep lips and all have a gap in the middle. I can't find an OEM VR6 lip anywhere.
