Depends if he wants to convert to FI or keep the carb.

You get a kit that allows you to use your carb intake on a FI head, use carb dizzy and low pressure electric fuel pump. If he goes FI he must get engine management, do wiring, change fuel tank and pump and so on.

So cam is ready and the head in for engineering....

So we will see wi the bigger cam and proper head to be close in the region of +- 160 whp
You making 143whp.. the reason i used Torker's 8v as an example is his 8v is running on 1 TB, I take my hat off for him making that power out a 8v.

Hope you achieve 160whp, will be great!!!

@ Mullernewdubber if your frind wants to convert to FI he will need a few things
FI tank
Fuel lines
Pump
Management or mp9 + wiring harness
ect
EX
City.Com ABF

well im gonna take my mp9 harnass out and my feul tank to put an efi velo feul tank, probably will take a month or two to find one, so then for him he will need only feul lines and feul pump.....

will the gearbox work though?

Why do you want to change your tank, all the FI Citi tanks are the same. The gearbox will work.

Edit to add: What year model is your friends 1300, the very old ones with the forward slant motor needs some mods to the cambelt side engine mount as well.

he says he thinks its a 1987, doesnt know exactly as he inherited from his father and never really cared.

reason why i ask, i want to help him coz he is struggeling and doesnt want a new car or anything...he is happy with going from a to b and with this motor it will give him easily another 10 years on the car....

okay so ill keep my tank and then search for one for his car with all the extras.

what will the implication of the 4 speed be? longer gears???

When I changed the 4-speed in my GT to a FFZ I worked out that 1-4 on both is just about the same, with the FFZ having the 5th gear over and above. '87 will be the same setup as yours so no sweat changing the motors. What management are you planning on running? When I did my 2.0 conversion I put all the Velo bits on the new motor and kept the existing wiring, looks stock that way.

Most 2.0/8V's I've seen on here with the usual mods and 276 cam makes just over 80kW atw at Kar or RBTS, SJS's engine is actually stronger than most.
Thanks bud. I'm going to miss my motor...but I'm also looking forward to my ABF setup

No. And neither will adding a cone filter. When we joke about it, it's exactly that. A joke.

That is friggin strong. No jokes. I know you can't compare dyno's, but on panic's dyno last year, 2.0 8valves with 288 cam and headwork were running about 110hp. That motor of sjs is strong.

To give you an idea, I moved from a modified 1.4i to a 2.0 8v. My motor made 95hp on Dastek's dyno, and it's a hoot to drive. On wet roads, you can't just drop the hammer in first. You will spin. Sometimes even on a dry road. And this is with a 268 cam.
Thanks bud, its a lot of fun :driving:

Unless the 2L's Alternator is buggered, rather keep that, the 2L came with a 90A alti, and your 1.4 should have a 65A (or there about).
The waterpump should be the same but, If the 2L's pump is buggered, rather get a new one, they are cheap and you need peace of mind.

Go to a tool shop or Midas, and get the correct 1/2 inch drive allen or spline drive, the long shank ones work better around the boot of the CV, then just make sure you apply enough inward pressure to keep te allen drive or splinedrive in the head of the bolt, otherwise you are going to strip it, and that starts a whole different ball-ache. Where are you located again?

There are thousands of FFZ 'boxes running around with 210mm flywheel + clutch setups with no issues.

Are you 100% sure everything was fitted together properly?

Post by Mullernewdubber »

@Jetta2 - i think that is exactly the problem, it might not have been fitted correctly, ill take it in on monday to carnetics and let them pull it and refit.

as for the gotech, has anyone installed one before or similar that might be able to help, and what can i connect the managemnent to that runs on ignition???

also i was told by the previous owner of the gotech to run two lines + and - from fuel pump to gotech, but isnt that just when you convert from carb to FI with the new pump etc...

the feul pump should work just fine as it is or what??
