Advance : to move or bring forward: The general advanced his troops to the new position.

does not equal to increase (give more)

you could advance fuel by spraying it earlier in the cycle.

As said before, for drivability, the 276 is not the ideal cam for a 1.4. In my opinion, it was a dog to drive. I always had to down shift when I wanted to pass a car, or else my car would just give me the o_0 look and tune me NO. Used to jerk under 2500rpm as well. This was with a Unichip. In all fairness, once that cam got to it's happy place in the rev range, oh my word. It left a smile on my face. But even stock 1.4's would outsprint me in first and second gear. If you really want to hang on to your 276, fit a piggyback chip, Unichip, or Perfect Power. That will sort your fuelling issues out. Unless there is something else at fault, like your temperature sensor or something.

Edit to add: I swopped my 276 out for a 268, best move I ever made.
i have 276CAM, V-Pulley, CAI, Uni Chip, Exhaust(standard branch) ( but i upgraded to th 1.8 Clutch kit) im yet to see a standard 1.4 or even a standard 1.6 out launch me bud..... i even raced V-treks, 20v ( and the guys on the toyo site that knows me as i have proven it over and over again cause they said i couldnt.... and gues what i did it over and over again  )

if i could do it again i would of rather of spent all that money on a upgrade on the motor as i only learnt more about car once i already put in all the extra's on my car.

i love my 276 on my 1.4 and still loving it to date...

in all honesty you will get mixed opinions weather to keep or not to keep it in the car.... i for one wont change my set up, unless im upgrading the engine :hi:

The 276 will drop bottom end torque, right that is known,
The 17" wheels make a 1400 a donkey, that is known,

Now in your case add the two together, yay, crappy botom end. Put back the 14" and feel the power. lol.
