Velo Vs Rox and Cams

Post by playa69 »

i've read a few posts and the only difference i see between a Velo and Rox is the MP9 vs MPI system and the catalytic converter on the rox.

Some guys also say that the mp9 system can handle, lets say a 276 cam just fine but the mpi cannot. is this correct?

Also, i suspect that my car that i bought brand new from VW in 2008 is a Velo with Rox stickers. it has the velo zorst/tail piece and not the small one i see on other Rox's

My understanding between the 2 is that motor wise they were identical .. everything management alles. (Diffrent year modals had MP9 and MPI)
for the rest it was cosmetical changes and diffrences.

Not even going to bother reading..

They are the same ... Only diffrence was that the earlier modals year wise came with MP9 management and later modals came with MPI. Take the VIN nr to VW and let them check for you.

The only diffrence in the management was the inclusion of a Lamda sensor and cathelitic convertor.. the TB and most of the other sensors stayed the same. A known issue with high duration cams on a MP9 motor is that over time it fries the idle motor.. on the MPI using the same TB the exsact same wil happen.

Only read now that he initially said he know about the cat.

Major difference engine wise is the use of the Bosch MPI management system in the new Citi's. It also has a catalytic converter in the zorst.

The Velo's used the Bosch MP9 system with no cat

Thought he was not aware of that.
