Polo Mp9 not starting

Post by nd_s »

Hi Guys

My Polo 2003 Polo Classic seems to be acting up again.it is running a mp9 box with smt8

It cranks but does not start, Last time it done this the injector loom was loose.

Seems to have no spark

Things i have checked

Tp100 plugged in
dizzy plug plugged in
Changed temp sensor
checked map sensor is plugged in
Seems there is no spark from the coil

Car ran this morning when it was driven out.

Gonna try change the dizzy tomorrow.

vag com is giving a fault code about lambda and speed sensor right.

Is the HAL-sender on the dissy sending a signal? I think it should be something like 5V?

if you have vag then go into measuring blocks andd check if it shows rpm while cranking. If not then the hall generator is dead.

Martin there are 3 wires, last time this happened, i changed the polo tp100 and the coil into the jetta and the polo got the jetta stuff.
Will check to see if i can get a voltage.

Did you change the whole distributor? Check the haynes manual, it gives a whole procedure to follow to troubleshoot a no-spark problem.

Coil Changed, Still not starting.

I have noticed that the led on the smt8 is not coming on.
Bridged the smt 8 out and car is starting.
Will need to ask panic for his advice tomorrow.

I had the exact same problem with my car.
Turned out to be the Coil, distributor and the coil 'cable'.
Car was fine after all that was replaced. Hope that helps a bit.
