No bloody wonder you still have issues.. the guy that worked on your car doesn't have a bloody clue !

Eina!!! I do understand from your perspective though. Does that include replacing what needs to be replaced? Or is that excluding any replacement of parts?

i am running 2e with carb and I am happy with it. there is nothing wrong with carbs as i had many vw's running carb. sure you do have the occasional hickup as you would with FI but it is no big deal.
with all the hassles and inconvenience you are experiencing, just take to panic and he will sort out. sometimes you have to drive that extra mile to get a proffesional. Everthing in life must be diagnosed correctly before correcting it, that goes for cars as well. you will spend a **** load of money trying to fix something that you not even sure is the fault. as for service providers, well that is another topic on its own.

hope you get sorted out!

Have you checked your carb baseplate? Gymkhana's can kill those...

And TRUST me, paying panic R1250 is nothing for what you will get, car will get sorted one way or another and the knowledge you will pickup from spending a few hours with him is immense!

Well worth it if you ask me ;-)

Yip, was one of the first thinks I checked. I actually think I may have an exhaust leak either where the manifold meets the block or at knuckle which was most likely brought about at the Gymkhana, to me that can be the only other reason for the popping on over-run, well either that or sum lekker fong kong timing which Mr Professional should have sorted out instead of making my car be even more down on power than ever before!!! It is going back to him tomorrow and I am really trusting it will be sorted otherwise there will be a nice/ not so nice post in the rant/ rave section!!!!

Don't worry, making the trek through to panic is becoming a very serious possibility if this persists!!

Another thing, do you guys have any idea what a second hand brake booster would cost for a Mk2??

Don't even bother with 2nd hand brake boosters! They will set you back between R200-R350 depending where you find. Chances are good that its farked so spend some extra and buy a new one from GW like R500. Oh its ATE so its not cheap rubbish, iirc the oem ones were ATE!

Ok, scrap that thought :fear:
When I went to GW in Roodepoort the dude said I can only get it from the dealers???? Yip it is an ATE unit, maybe Viper can shed some light on the issue

Ok guys, so I got the car back yesturday afternoon. It is running a bit better than when I got it back the 1st time but it still has that occasional hesitation when accelerating, this only happens when the revs are low(at idle) and the throttle is pressed down rapidly but it doesn't do it every time!?!?!?!. It also feels like the car is still lacking some overall power, it is clearly evident when going up a hill. Lastly, I can no longer feel the second stage of the carb coming in, now I don't know if this is simply because the guy tuned it like that or if the second stage is in fact not coming in at all, which would explain the last of overall top end power.

Bud, i know you have spend enough already and it is becoming even more frusrating to you. take the car to panic and let him sort it out. at this stage we can tell you to check whether your vaccum advance is working, vaccum hoses etc....stomach in,chest out and off you go to panic!

Hehehehehe, thanks man, yip it is seeming like this is going to be the case. I am going to do one more thing before I do that, I am going to get a service kit for the OEM carb that I still have, give it a good service and pull the GW WAG one and see how it runs with the OEM one back on.

The cars revs pick up once again when pumping the brake so it seems like the mechanic managed to get 1 thing right  but it is now clear that the second stage is not opening because with the pipe on or off the second stage actuator it makes no difference :bang: .
