Viper Exhaust

Post by petrolhead »

Had a talk with Abel from Viper and he can do the following for me:

4-2-1 Viper branch and matching free flow system with progressive diameter stainless system (Pipe diameter: 54-50-57mm)

R3600.00

Im not expecting huge gains from this but wouldl ove to have a sweet sounding car with a performance exhaust.

Before and After dyno run to be done.

Absolutely effing brilliant! Go with it as is! I would have said yes, even for R4500!

I have seen, driven and tested every combo of exhaust on the 8v you can think of lol!
If you are going this route from stock, you will have good gains too!

Personally though, I would say full 57mil from the branch... its works wonders on the 1.6i... but its noisy

As said...later if you go 2.0l bottom end (R2500 + remap + labour) you will need the full 57mil.

Much of a muchness though... you will never go wrong with Viper!!!

Smokex please always keep one thing in mind, what works at the coast dos not always work at altitude. So always give advise with such abandon and convition - yes it's brillaint works great on a 1.6 but never adds 'at the coast'. A 57 for a 1.6 here by us is not the best thing ever. Please keep that in mind.

Yes agreed, altitude and coast makes a difference...

But he has not said where he is from?

He said he chatted to Abel, so did I the other day and I am in Durbs :hi:

Abel has recommended a progressive 57mil anyway... so its pretty close... much of a muchness like I said :driving:

He spoke to Abel he says in his post. Currently Abel is at viper in jhb, hence i deducted that he must be up here. But yes i could be wrong. But you have many many times done the same thing with most of those posters being in jhb. Same whenit comes to cam threads and throttle body threads. What works in durbs does not apply to jhb. So perhaps just gt into the habit of saying it worked for you in durban but might not work at the highveld. I know you give advise very willingly and everybody appreciates your enthusiasm so please don't stop. Just qualify.

100% correct...I do have that habit  I just generally assume people will read my sig or info under the Avatar and know I am in Durbs.

Yes people could read your signature and see you are in durban. As person asking form advise here most likely has no idea that there might be a diiference between howmsoemthing works here to how it works at sea level. Even pretty experienced fiddlers never seem to realise that it makes a difference. So always qualify it by it might not work for you ifnyou are at the highveld.
The three main things where it makes a diffs is
A) cams
B) exhausts
C) itb sizes.

For the rest generally advise is generic.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Sorry forgot to mention im from Durban! Abel is in Durban too...

Was going to get the Branch ceramic coated but for the price of doing that i could rather spend the money somewhere else where i could gain more.

Agree?

I got cheaper quotes to get the exhaust done at a few other places but id rather go to Viper as they have a very good reputation.

Yeah just gonna leave it in his hands and hope to enjoy the outcome. Like i said im not expecting huge gains... 2 - 3kws maybe but will be enjoying the sound of a proper performance exhaust.

His systems are of the nicer sounding type.. always gets the balance between and nice crisp/raspy sound without it being overly load or drony right.
