Octane Booster

Post by sheheen29 »

Hi Guys

I need some advice...
I purchased a can of Liqui Moly octane booster for my NA 2l 8v just to see if there’s any difference, however I’m running dictator and the car is not tuned for octane.
Will the map get corrupted if I use the octane booster or is it safe. I just had the car tuned 2 months back don’t want anything to go wrong.

Thanks

The octane booster is boosting the fuel octane. If your car was properly tuned, this should not affect the motor in a great way as it boosting the octane quality on your fuel resulting in a better combustion. Having that said, it do so at your own risk and mix in on the recommended ratio.

its cheap compared to other similar products so You can try it out and see if it makes your car run smoother with the added octane but you may not see any power gains...

We use this liqui moly octane plus with every tank in our M cars as the stock S54 M motor pings on cold start. Even though this octane booster only bumps octane up 1 point and not 10 like ultra but it still makes the cars run much better and doesn't ping or misfire. Also the stock ecu can also accommodate for it in our case...

Octane booster can not do anything to alter your ECE/MAP.

Changes fuel characteristics and nothing else. (in your case)

Running the Octane Booster will not affect your dictator, so you can safely run it without any fear of damage to the engine or management.
That being said, Dictator is not an adaptive ECU, so the difference you will feel will be negligible.

@Rascal69 : Remember, NF doesn't only make Ultra... we have NF Street Octane Booster (3 Octane increase) and NF Super Street Octane Booster (4 Octane Increase & Injector Cleaner) that provide excellent octane boost for your buck.

I have a 20L Toluene that I got from a Supplier, is it safe adding it to normal unleaded fuel to up the Octane ?
I think Toluene was 114 Octane last time I checked.
Anyone used this before ?
