Diesel injector cleaner

Hi Guys,

Does diesel injector cleaner add any benefits? If so how often would u recommend it being used it and brand?

Wynns Diesel Injector Cleaner. I add it to a full tank when ever I drive down to the eastern cape (twice a year). Nice long drive let it work through the system.

thread hi-jack, whats the consensus on injector cleaners in general, so for petrol engines too, is it worth doing?

I've been adding the Wynns Injector cleaner for petrol engines to my '01 Cabrio twice a year for years. No adverse effects noted, but you are not going to free up any HP either.

I don't know whether there will ever be "consensus" on these things. People have their sacred opinions and beliefs.

But I do know 2 things:
1) Whenever I've had problems that I thought were related to fuel injection, I've tried injector cleaner as a first remedy, and have never noticed it making any difference.
2) I hold Panic Mechanic in high regard, and take all my non-DIY repairs there. And he indicated to me that additives are a waste of time and money. (Contrary to regular maintenance.)

A lot of people will tell you that the only proper way to clean injectors would be with ultrasonic cleaning
