Good day
My polo 1.6 tdi has 315000km. It's currently using 5w40.
It uses 1L per 7500km (I don't mind oil consumption).
Will there be any side effects (besides increase in oil consumption) if I move to 5w30?
Thanks

Worst thing you can do on a high mileage engine is to change oil, especially to something thinner.
Keep using what has been used in services for the last couple of oil changes. It's kept it going until 315k, so changing now could be doing more harm than good.
