TDI Camshaft

Post by Callum229 »

Hi guys

So I have stripped my 1.9 TDI BXE engine, Two valve stem seals were leaking.

I have also taken out the camshaft and saw the lobes seemed to be slightly damaged. The BXE engines are known for eating camshafts. I had checked the camshaft before when I had done the head, and it was perfect, now it has slight flat ends on the cams presumably when my relative put the wrong oil in.

I need to get a new camshaft and would like to know the following.

I was going to put in an ASZ camshaft, does that suffer from the same issues? Can I go with a used camshaft or a brand new one(used R1000, brand new R2400).

Where can I get new hydraulic cam followers at a reasonable price, it is like R1500 for a set of 8 from goldwagen.

Cant help on where to find the parts at better pricing, but the problem isn't linked to engine code, but rather to the engine series.

This is why there is a strict oil requirement on the PD engines that oil must be 505.01 or 507.
