Liquimoly smoke stop

Post by Callum229 »

Hey guys.

So I had a smoking issue(blue smoke) when cold, ever since the wrong oil was put in(2007 MK5 Jetta 1.9 TDI DSG)

However it was only for a few seconds (say around 1 minute).

However a drunk driver smacked me from the back.

Ever since then, it would smoke huge plumes of blue smoke when cold until around 80 degrees.

Got the car fixed up, went underneath and did the following.

- Replaced the dipstick tube as it was broken, still smoked.

- Removed and cleaned out feed and drain lines for turbo, no dirt was inside. New gaskets.

- Put liquimoly stop smoke.

- Noticed my top boost pipe was loose and unplugged(not sure how). Plugged back in. Before that had overboost warning and limp mode.

The last three things were done at the same time. It stopped smoking.

Now I need to know. Is the liquimoly stop smoke safe?

Do I put the liquimoly stop smoke in every service?

Has anyone used it on their 1.9 TDIs and was it safe?

What does this mean for my motor? Blown valve stem seals, piston rings, turbo?

Can a clogged cat cause blue smoke as well?

All these "stop smoke" products do nothing really, except modifying the engine oil to some degree to make it thicker.
They are snake oil marketing BS products.

No oil additive will ever fix worn engine parts. Will never happen.

Just stick with the recommended oil for the motor and forget about adding anything to the oil.
