9n PULLING TO THE RIGHT UNDER ACCELERATION

Post by MSD »

Problem on the 9n TDI again.....

Ran a VCDS scan. No issues.

Issue: Under any sort of acceleration the car pulls violently to the right. Extremely violent taking the car into the next lane. When under no power the car tracks in a straight line. Its definitely not torque steer.

There also seems to be a ticking sound in the dash when cornering. When driving in a straight line there is no noise. Could it be related to this issue?

The suspension is completely new. Rear control arm bushes were replaced with VW bushes and are fine.

Any help or similar issues information will be appreciated.

Lots of factors at play here.

1. Alignment was done/checked?
2. Tire pressures.
3. Sticking brakes.
4. Faulty diff, diff getting stuck, gearbox issue.
5. Sticking CV joints, faulty CV joints.
6. Wheel bearing on it's way out.
7. Too much power? What power is your TDI making?
8. Steering ball joint or suspension has play, loose steering rack?

Ticking noises when cornering usually means faulty CV joints.

Jack up the car, check resistance of the front wheels, they should move with around the same resistance, if not, you have an issue. Check CV boots if they are torn, check that nothing is loose. Push and pull your wheels horizontally and vertically while it is in the air to check if there is any play. When checking, make sure that both wheels are off the ground and safely on jack stands.

Could it not also be lower control arms? check bushes for play and bolts are secure?

Possibly something with the power steering system?
The 9n's use an electric motor that drives a pump for the power steering.
Maybe do a VCDS fault scan.

VCDS should pick up if it is the wrong angle or power steering issue, he said no issues. Maybe go to measuring blocks and double check angle sensor?

Does it go left under heavy breaking?
Have you gone through the alignment printout just to verify that all is well?
Sometimes the techs do stupid things like move one wheel forward.
