Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
howzit bud, Golf 5 platform the same as the Leon FR and I had the VWR springs with the Bilstein shocks on my FR and all I can say is wow! absolutely amazing.
If you going low for some stance I would recommend going the coil over route as once you start lowering the bug bites and at least you can adjust it lower where the springs will be a fixed height. FK is not a bad brand and not too pricey.

Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
I have checked out coilovers but the description didn't mention it can be used on the tdi. So that's where the confusion comes in.J0NN0 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 1:50 pm howzit bud, Golf 5 platform the same as the Leon FR and I had the VWR springs with the Bilstein shocks on my FR and all I can say is wow! absolutely amazing.

Regarding the shocks, just replaced the standard ones as they were shot, so have to go the spring route now. Would like a mild drop only.
I bought this car not knowing the springs were cut, took it for alignment, and sh*t, they were bad. Decided not to drive it until I replace the springs.

Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
I'm no expert, but I'm 90% sure you can use the coil overs on the TDI.
In terms of replacing your shocks, I recommend the VWR but not sure who supplies them. Most common ones I hear of guys using is H&R springs.
What drop are you looking for? 20? 30? 40?

Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
Looking for like a 20 drop. Was even considering GTI springs for the TDi then on some forum it mentioned that due to the weight of the TDI engine, the front will be much lower.

Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
Yes I have heard the same, the springs are not the same for G5 divertives but the coilovers will be the same. (I'm pretty sure)
If only 20mm drop look at the VWR

Re: Golf 5 1.9 TDI springs
You will need to find 50mm hub coilovers as the tdi has 50mm instead of 55mm on the petrol models. Just make sure it’s correct. I made the mistake of buying coilovers only to find they were 55mm hubs instead of 50mm

I thought that the 2.0 TDI Sportline and the GTI shared suspension components, I could have been mistaken then.
