It would help to say what car you have, what model it is and what TDI engine it has.

Should be full servotronic i.e. electric motor setup... No power steering fluid.

Edit to add, seems there are two versions, electro hydraulic and servotronic... so you will have to find which version you have. But the below applies for both versions.

Check all connections especially ground. Also check all big fuses, probably in engine bay. Have it scanned as it should show some errors...

Check under battery for fluid reservoir, should have a green cap.

What are the symptoms? How often does it stop?

Also check stuff like steering angle sensor and it's wiring.

Also make sure your car battery is still healthy. My 1.6 TDI gave me uphill with the power steering and it turned out that I had a 646CE battery (for normal petrol Polo's) instead of a 652 which is the correct battery for the diesels.

Thanks it goes off when turning at low speed.
At other times it works fine, so it's on and off.
Which wiring should I check and which fuses should I look at
Thanks

Sounds like a voltage issue. Get your battery checked out
