Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
It's simple to fit an oem drain, unless u got 1 made up by a hydraulic shop then u will struggle, that's normal. Lol
Give the bottom end 22mm nut (I think) a few threads then fit the 2 upper bolts.
Bending the aftermarket steel braid is not easy especially if it's short and most likely not a 100% the same. I noticed a new oem drain braid is weaker than the aftermarket ones hydraulic shops keep.

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
If u reusing the 1 showed in the Pic, that's a bad idea. It looks wrecked.
If the pipe can't allow oil to flow through freely, u gonna have turbo issues. They do deteriorate.

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
Thanks guys. I will call into GOLDWAGEN Bloemfontein today and see if they sell it separately. Engine parts and Turbocharger Bloemfontein said they don't sell it.
Failing which, I will have to go to Volkswagen Audi to see if the can assist. Hydraulic shop will be my last call since my last experience with a hydraulic shop was not a pleasant one.
I am also hoping to find a "crow foot" 22mm spanner.
I will keep you posted on the next developments.
Thank again for the tips.

Those were the words of a sales agent at GOLDWAGEN Bloemfontein. Not surprising. Saturday morning, I will be visiting VW dealership.
And trying to find a 22mm crow foot spanner is a futile exercise.
I will post an update soon.

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
Those drain pipes are about R830 from vw.
Normal spanner works for me, or a shifting spanner. Don't over tighten.

You can try SG Tappin, Grey and co, Eddies power tools and Anco Air for those crow foot spanners. They normally stock 'higher end' tools.

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
The replacement pipe has been reinstalled. Chucker02, I ended up finding a short 22mm open ended spanner that worked perfectly! Thanks again.
Next step is to tackle the leaking crank position sender. The sender is new and I did not install it myself. I suspect a pinched O-ring.
Ashveer03, thanks for your tip about avoiding over tightening. Especially the small Turbocharger bolts, breaking those would have been a catastrophic.

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
I remember when we exchanged my turbo at Stephan's (Panic's) place, he happened to be watching as I was tightening the union nut on the oil return. I'd been busy with many tight bolts that day, and I was stressing to get the job done, so my concentration was low, and I was about to give that union nut a good crank. Stephan saw my body language and stopped me mid-crank, juuuust before I did serious damage. One lapse of good sense is all it takes...

Re: Help! How to reinstall oil return...
I have sheared my fair share of bolts too. From head bolts to tensioner bolts.
The frustration of wanting to finish the job in time, can cause even more time to get wasted.
