Replacement Clutch Kit Polo 1.9 Tdi Stage 2

Post by FanMan »

Good Morning All

I hope someone can please help me , because I have been searching all over. :type:

I'm going to be doing Stage 2 on my Polo 1.9 Tdi PD100, I have read a lot about the clutch and 99% of the people say the OEM clutch dont hold up on Stage 2.

I have been searching high and low for a replacement clutch, the only thing I know it should be single mass not duel mass.

I got a quote from Darkside Developments but I dont trust the postage system of SA.....  :bang:

Then got a Quote from GoldWagen Delarey (Very friendly and helpfull) for a Valeo clutch kit solid flywheel, they say people use this on the performance cars... But the quote say DMF, which I assume stand for Duel mass... so if anyone know if this is the correct kit, please let me know.

If anyone can help me with a specific description of a clutch kit (Name number serial) and where I can get one, will be highly appreciated

Thank you very much.ImageImage

When shipping from Darkside use DHL and you get your stuff very quickly.

I am sure GW Delarey will provide you with the correct kit if you just double check that quote with them. They have supplied a number of people with them in the past.

But just my 2cents, if your clutch ain’t giving you issues, don’t replace it yet. Atleast nog until it starts slipping or doing anything funny. Stage2 ain’t too rough on these cars

Regarding the quote from goldwagen, i also got a quote saying DMF instead of SMF. That's just how its listed on their system, the clutch is a single mass kit.

I have a VR6 clutch and an ABF flywheel that i got from a scrap yard on my PD100. Works like magic and its so much stronger than the DMF.

The clutch was about R 1500(if i remember correctly) from Nazeers in Durban and the flywheel was R 2000.

That is basically what the delarey kit is. Don't overthink it. They have lot of experience with these.

Nothing wrong with getting parts from darks side. Once in SA customs clears items and courier takes over. Made a few orders and always got my parts very quickly

Also try to call LMB direct in Joburg. They will supply you the correct SMF complete clutch kit for about 4k. Most people who have SMF use these LMB clutches.

Cos you're not nearby to places like GW Delarey, if they offer postage or courier then go for the Valeo, otherwise speak to Adrian from TPH and organise an LMB kit, both are good. Tyrone from SR brings in stuff from Darkside regularly so if you want to go that route speak to him.
It is an ingenius solution to a problem that should have never existed in the 1st place...

When I called lmb in jhb like 2 or 3 years ago, they quoted me 5500 excl shipping to Durban.

Don't think Gw delary deals with lmb anymore, they stock Valeo single mass kits. Which is said to be of better quality. Havnt tried it so I'm not sure.

TPH has lmb.

I personally had no problems with lmb, as long as they run in properly it would hold up for a long time
